The Junior Information Security Specialist will help execute the internal information security strategy for the organization. This role will be involved in various aspects of the security program including policy / procedure development, control implementation and monitoring, internal and external compliance audits and assessments, security training and awareness, enterprise risk assessments, supplier risk evaluations, and other related duties.

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain information security policies, standards, processes, and procedures
  • Drive internal control alignment and implementation based on industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in annual risk assessment and assist in developing and maintaining security risk metrics to measure performance of required controls
  • Support internal and external audits and assessments of GuidePoint's security program
  • Ensure GuidePoint's vendors align with required controls and standards as part of the enterprise supplier risk management process
  • Support customer and vendor contract reviews
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Skills & Experience

  • 1-3 years of work experience or an undergraduate degree in IT, information assurance, or a related field
  • Experience with industry standard frameworks (i.e. NIST/CMMC, ISO 27001:2013, AICPA SOC 2, etc.)
  • Knowledge about and experience with compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e., PCI; GDPR; HIPAA; NYDFS; etc)
  • Publishing and maintaining information security policies, standards, processes and procedures
  • Performing third party vendor management
  • Direct responsibilities for managing processes covering one or more information security domains
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organization skills, self-motivated and self-directed, and able to work independently or as part of a team  
Preferred Qualifications
  • Security+, CISA, CRISC, CISM, and/or CISSP certifications
  • Masters in IT, information assurance, or related field
