Senior Security Engineer

Our organization creates transformative digital experiences through services that include strategy, experience design, technology, analytics and insight, and marketing. We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our growing Cloud Engineering & Security team. This role will work closely with department team members, Principal Architects, and leaders from other disciplines to support key security initiatives and the continued development of both internal and external solutions for improving company security standards, baselines, policies, and procedures.  The Senior Security Engineer will report directly to the Senior Director, Cloud Engineering and Security. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Partner with technical leads and architects to create security solutions for proof of concepts, new integrations, and other technical service offerings
• Provide thought leadership towards a foundational strategic vision for software as well as IaaS products and offerings across all clients; align on direction with internal teams and executive leadership
• Represent the department during client engagements and lead technical discussions with client stakeholders around security
• Exercise due care in increasing your knowledge of the security field, threat landscape, security intelligence, moving proactively toward prevention and detection of threats
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to help ensure high-quality, maintainable infrastructure and processes
• Build security tools and processes using Python or JavaScript for critical infrastructure protection, monitoring and remediation
• Lead security best practice and domain expertise knowledge sharing opportunities, including the mentoring of junior engineers on industry standards and techniques
• Serve as primary point of contact for security-related account escalations and service requests
• Design and implement security-related policies and procedures to support organizational scaling and growth projections
• Partner with development teams to ensure security best practices are being met during the software development lifecycle
• Design infrastructure and drive its implementation to protect client systems running in AWS
• Drive enterprise focused security improvements to our products and services

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in security
• 2+ years of Cloudflare administration and configuration for enterprise clients
• Extensive experience driving security engineering initiatives in enterprise environments
• Coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
• Experience with attacks and mitigation methods with experience working in two or more of the following: network protocols and secure network design; operating system internals and hardening (e.g. Windows, Linux, OS X, Android); web application and browser security; security assessments and penetration testing; authentication and access control; applied cryptography and security protocols; security monitoring and intrusion detection; incident response and forensics; development of security tools, automation or frameworks
• Efficient time management skills along with the ability to deliver results in the face of uncertainty
