Control Risks' APAC cyber security practice is looking for a risk management consultant with a strong understanding of the information and cyber security risks global enterprises face in the Asia Pacific region.

This person enjoys solving problems at the intersection of business, politics, technology and security for clients across a wide range of industries and locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and managing cyber security consulting projects to clients and for supporting the development of the growing cyber security consulting team.

This will involve being part of a highly capable team of consultants and managing client relationships.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical and consulting background, demonstrating their ability to generate new client relationships, manage existing ones and lead project teams.

They will have the ability to understand key concepts in cyber security and specifically those relating to cyber threats as well as the capability to communicate security technology problems as business risk challenges at the non-technical executive (CXO) level.

The successful candidates will have proven experience in managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

They will be able to support the overall administration of the regional practice and liaise with internal teams on project status, reporting and billing.

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • Experience of cyber security challenges (including strategy and planning, solutions development, threat intelligence and incident response), either within a consultancy or as a practitioner.
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills to oversee project delivery and practice administration.
  • Strong knowledge of IT, network infrastructure and security architectures/solutions.
  • Ability to approach cyber security from the attacker’s point of view.
  • 4+ years of relevant work in cyber security such as in operations, threat intelligence, governance and/or consulting.
  • Understanding of the cyber threat landscape and key cyber security concepts.
  • Familiarity with cyber security solutions and architectures, with an emphasis on the cloud.
  • Familiarity with practical technology governance functions such as policies, reporting and auditing (note that this is not a compliance/audit position).
  • Understanding of the intelligence lifecycle and its usage for threat intelligence.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral form at senior levels.
  • Able to explain difficult technical concepts and ideas in non-technical terms to colleagues and to clients.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex cyber security incidents.

Preferred requirements

  • Broad corporate experience and understanding of the interaction between departments (such as HR, Finance and Security) and levels of governance within a commercial organization.
  • Good understanding of regional political and social issues that may drive or otherwise impact cyber security risks.
  • Regional language skills and cultural awareness.
  • Strong preference for excellent written and spoken Mandarin Chinese.

Qualifications and specialist skills

  • Preferred undergraduate degree in a field related to security, information security, intelligence or computer science.
  • Preferred a suitable industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, SANS, CEH, etc.
