As the Associate IT Security Specialist you will work within the Xero Internal IT Team to ensure all cloud and internal systems are secure and protected. You will act as the Security Evangelist within the Internal IT Team to lead, monitor, review and implement security related initiatives. You will work to keep our processes and technology updated and compliant with industry standards whilst working with the wider Xero Product Security team and Security Risk team to keep informed of all security related activities within Internal IT and wider Xero.

What you'll do:

  • Provide essential support for incoming ticket escalations and security incidents
  • Gain exposure to our security suite including Firewalls and DLP
  • Monitor critical vulnerabilities and security threats and provide awareness for patch recommendations for all cloud and internal assets (systems, networks, software, e-mail)
  • Constantly monitor for gaps in internal security, identify risks and develop mitigation steps with guidance from other more senior members in your team
  • Work with Internal IT teams to prioritise and implement these security initiatives
  • Assist with network administration and maintenance as and when required 
  • Manage major security incidents with the product security team to develop a consistent process and quick resolutions
  • Assist our Workplace Experience (Facilities) team on aspects of physical security as and when required
  • Give input and direction into project work when required
  • Manage relationships with vendors and 3rd parties

What you'll bring with you:

  • A Computer Science degree, or demonstrated  experience in a Senior IT Support or security focused role
  • Operational experience in an internalIT team in a large corporate environment
  • Knowledge of DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response)
  • Knowledge of SIEM (SecurityInformation and Event Management)systems and log analysis
  • Understanding of creating and maintaining CSIRP’s (Cyber SecurityIncident Response Plans)
  • Experience in cloud delivered technologies such as Google and Office 365
