We are Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T): Boeing's global research and development team creating and implementing innovative technologies that make the impossible possible and enabling the future of aerospace. Our team is responsible for infusing new technologies into the design and production system, as well as ensuring that new designs and our suppliers meet the applicable material and process requirements.
Boeing is seeking a Senior Product Security Engineer-Networking and Communications Technologies, to join BR&T in either Arlington, VA; Huntington Beach, CA; or Hazelwood, MO to conduct cyber security research in the field of networking and communications.
This position will focus on the development of new technologies to support mobile ad hoc directional networking, both on board wireless and off board SATCOM networking environments. Work will involve leading and supporting research projects to develop new concepts in tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, or network management technologies. This role will work to prove the feasibility of new network technologies, building of prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of the technologies, and the test and evaluation of prototypes in relevant environments. The focus will be on achieving successful technology transitions from the research environment to Boeing programs as well as to external customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and sustains product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle
Develops and enhances system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements
Ensures security of facilities, equipment, tools, data, networks, and resources used for product: design, development, build, test, storage, delivery, operations, and support
Defines and identifies product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into Boeing products and services
Coordinates with governments, customers, suppliers, and industry to identify risks and improve industry and regulatory security standards and requirements for programs and interfacing systems
Conducts research and development activities resulting in innovative solutions
Advises customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and services
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience with software programming/scripting (such as Python, Unix/Linux type batch scripting, FORTRAN, C / C++)
Experience in network design
Experience utilizing TCP/IP network protocols
Experience with network communications architecture and operations
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active Secret Clearance
Experience communicating and collaborating directly with internal or external customers, peers, other employees, and all levels of leadership
Experience as proven leader with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Working knowledge of hardware systems, radio frequency communications; and ASIC, board, and module design processes and capabilities
Experience with developing hardware abstraction layer designs and firmware
Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components
Knowledge of real-time target environments including processor and network architectures, communication protocols, simulation frameworks and electrical interfaces
Working knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints, and products that require real-time software and influence the architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches (Real-time domain examples include control systems, human interfaces, and signal processing)
Knowledge of real-time software architectures and design methodologies along with the ability to synthesize real-time software architectures and designs to meet real-time requirements, characteristics, and constraints
Systems thinker
Expertise in network systems programming and Linux kernel programming
Capability to utilize software tools to program in C, C++, Python, and shell scripts, including experience in applying these tools in the context of Linux kernel programming, distributed networking systems, interfacing with Linux networking stack such as Netfilter framework, and/or developing Linux network device drivers
Experience with network device drivers, routing protocols, transport protocols, network-oriented middleware, wireless or satellite networking systems, networking for embedded systems, tactical communications systems, network management, Software Defined Networking, Quality of Service, or traffic engineering
Excellent understanding of TCP (Transport Control Protocol/IP (Internet Protocol) networks
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Plan: $164,050 - $238,050
