Head of Security Operations - Midnight

Summary

We are looking for a talented Security Leader with expertise in Blockchain Security to join our team and help shape the future of Midnight’s products and technology. Midnight is a regulatory-friendly data protection-based blockchain that safeguards sensitive commercial and personal data, protecting fundamental freedoms of association, commerce, and expression for developers, companies, and individuals. 

As the Head of SecOps at Midnight, you will be instrumental in planning, executing, and ensuring the security of the Midnight public and private networks, contributing to the success of our blockchain. If you are a dynamic, results-driven security professional with a proven track record in managing complex technical security initiatives, this position is an exciting opportunity. Reporting to the CTO, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of security projects.

Duties

1. Own the Midnight blockchain security strategy, implementation, and operationalization into the market (as public and private networks).
2. Recommend, implement, and validate security controls and improvements across our technology stack and partnerships framework, thereby identifying and mitigating potential risks.
3. Perform due diligence on potential Blockchain architectures, Bridges, Wallets, and other elements that may be deployed in partnership with the Product team, the Engineering teams, and the ecosystem group.
4. Work closely with internal stakeholders, including cross-functional teams, to ensure seamless security implementation with ongoing initiatives.
5. In connection with security aspects, own and build relationships with key external stakeholders (e.g., customers, vendors, partners, and auditors).
6. Produce data-based reports on technology risk for senior management.
7. Help drive continuous improvement in the tech stack.
8. Stay on top of security trends and threats in the market that may impact Midnight. 
9. Create and maintain comprehensive security documentation.
10. Collaborate with marketing and ecosystem teams to incorporate. security-related messaging into our collaterals and campaigns. 

Requirements

Key Competencies

• Have proven experience as a technology security or security operations leader with a successful track record in managing complex technical initiatives.
• Demonstrate ability to develop security controls that are easy to test and audit.
• Experience in coordinating projects delivered by third parties/vendors.
• Possess proficiency in utilizing appropriate security systems, tools, and techniques to monitor security KPIs and demonstrate continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to report and escalate issues promptly and effectively.
• Have a proactive approach to risk management, including identifying and implementing mitigation security strategies.
• Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Education / Experience 

• Have ten (10) or more years of experience as a security engineer/product security engineering/security operations leader, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in cybersecurity (can overlap).
• Have two (2)or more years of experience with security and development standards for blockchain Smart Contract security and/or cryptography 
• Familiarity with security  across SDLC, including SAST, DAST, and IAST
• Proven experience developing automated, scalable, and reproducible security practices
• Demonstrated experience transitioning an organization to comply with government, regulatory, and industry security standards and best practices.
