At GoDaddy, the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days), and some work entirely remotely.
This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or offsites.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

GoDaddy is seeking a Principal Malware and Forensics Engineer with a deep passion for cyber security, particularly in the realm of malware analysis and digital forensics. You will play a pivotal role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating threats posed by sophisticated malware within GoDaddy's infrastructure. As part of our security response and research team, you will develop and refine tools and techniques to effectively dissect and neutralize malware, while also conducting thorough forensic investigations to trace the origins and impact of cyber-attacks.
You will work alongside a team of highly skilled professionals, where collaboration and knowledge sharing are encouraged to foster your professional growth and development. By leveraging state-of-the-art tools and methodologies, you will delve into the intricacies of our networks, systems, and applications, tirelessly hunting for signs of malicious activity. Your expertise in malware analysis and digital forensics will be instrumental in maintaining the security of our organization's critical assets, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information systems.
What you'll get to do…
- Lead complex malware analysis and reverse engineering efforts to understand threat actors' tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
- Develop comprehensive forensic reports and threat intelligence for a variety of stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal analysis tools and processes.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to improve incident response strategies and mitigation techniques.
- Stay abreast of the latest cyber threats and leverage this knowledge to enhance our defense mechanisms.
Your experience should include…
- 8+ years of professional experience in malware analysis and digital forensics.
- Proficiency with forensic analysis tools (e.g., Encase, FTK) and reverse engineering tools (e.g., Ghidra, IDA Pro).
- Highly proficient in Linux forensic analysis
- Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++).
- Experience with network traffic analysis and the use of SIEM tools.
- Strong understanding of operating systems internals and network protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
You might also have…
- Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications such as Certified Reverse Engineering Analyst (CREA), Certified Computer Forensics Examiner (CCFE), or similar.
- Experience in a leadership role or managing a team.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques as applied to malware detection.
- Contributions to the cybersecurity community, such as publications, blog posts, or presentations at conferences.
- Experience with Vulnerability Assessment and Threat Intelligence
